โฆ Synopsis
The theoretical aspects of the binding of ligand to protein molecules are discussed from the statistical mechanical point of view. The general equation for ligand binding has been obtained without introducing any assumption about molecular structure of proteins. Some commonly used formulae in enzymology have been derived by using the statistical mechanical method.

Effects of pH on enzymes are treated by statistical mechanical approach. The strict proof for existing pH catalysis theory is presented. It has been shown that the prerequisite for applying the existing pH theory to study the effects of pH on enzyme catalyzed reaction is that the two essential group
Recently A. W. Joseph described an algorithm providing combinatorial insight into E. Sparre Andersen's so-called Principle of Equivalence in mathematical statistics. In the present paper such algorithms are discussed systematically.
