✦ Synopsis

We have obtained an exact expression for the free energy of electrostatic interaction between two planar layers of orientable dipoles imbedded in a structurable dielectric continuum described by a wave-vectordepcndent dielectric response function. We show that the orientable dipoles themselves can be described by a special type of non-local dielectric response. The interaction in the case of non-local solvent coupling is much larger than in the case of ordinary, local dielectric.
