✦ Synopsis
A~tract--The influence of solvent on cationic copolymerization is investigated by theoretical methods. Mathematical expressions of the quotients of reactivity ratios, r2/r t, of a copolymerization system are derived for the gas phase and solution. Considering some knowledge about solvation energies of charged and uncharged species in various solvents, a rule is derived describing the changes of r I and r 2: the value of r2/r ~ decreases on moving the copolymerization system to a more polar solvent.
