Electron transfer reactions between a disk-shaped donor and acceptor are theoretically studied. The reorganization energy and the first-order and the second-order rate constants are calculated and compared with those for the case of a spherical donor and acceptor. The energy gap dependence of the se

β¦ Synopsis
The influence of solvent polarity on spectroscopic and thermodynamic properties of molecular electron-donor-acceptor (EDA) complexes is discussed. Analysis of experimental data leads to the conclusion that the ground state of EDA complex is destabilized with increasing polarity of solvent and this is said to be due to the decrease of energy of electrostatic interactions within the complex. This effect together with the Onsager's model of solvation constitute a basis for a new method of evaluation of solvent effects on charge-transfer absorption spectra of complexes. Results of calculations performed within the framework of this method are in good agreement with experimental results.
