โฆ Synopsis
Abstract
The model waterโsoluble polymer poly(ethylene oxide) was used to investigate solvation characteristics in mixtures of dโwater (deuterated water) and dโalcohols (deuterated alcohols). Three dโalcohols have been used: dโmethanol, dโethanol, and dโethylene glycol. Small angle neutron scattering was used to monitor the solvation properties of poly(ethylene oxide) in the dโsolvent mixtures. Nonideal solvent mixing was observed throughout. Solvent mixtures were found to be more effective solvating agents than individual solvents. ยฉ 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part B: Polym Phys 44: 3195โ3199, 2006
