✦ Synopsis
The behaviour of 4-N.N-d.imethylamino-etbylbenzoate in Its lowest electronically excited singlet and triplet states m solutions in apokr and polar solvents has been invertigatcd by measuring the life-e and quantum yield of the fluorescence, quantum yield of the triplet state and kmsient &electric loss mduccd by laser pulse excitation. The major concIusion is that the anomalous fluorescence of the compound in 1,4-d.ioxane and in polar solvents is emitted by solutesolvent cxdplexcs_ The prenously reported anomalous fluorescence of the compound in aSkames has no2 been observed.
