✦ Synopsis

Experimental solubilities are reported for anthracene dissolved in eight binary mixtures containing 2-butoxyethanol with 1-propanol, 2-propanol, 1-butanol, 2-butanol, 1-octanol, 1-pentanol, 2-methyl-1-propanol and 3-methyl-1-butanol at 25Β°C. Results of these measurements are used to test two mathematical representations based upon the combined Nearly Ideal Binary Solvent (NIBS)/Redlich-Kister equation and Modified Wilson model. For the eight systems studied, both equations were found to provide an accurate mathematical representation of the experimental data, with an overall average absolute deviation between measured and calculated values being on the order of 0.9 per cent or less.
