Abstract
A method for the determination of the purity of a compound by means of a series of solubility determinations (described in the case of one impurity by Northrop and Kunitz^1^) has been shown to give
The number of main impurities present;
the percentage of each impurity;
the solubility of the compound;
the solubilities of the impurities.
The method which may prove very useful, especially in cases where the probable impurities are related com pounds, e.g., other members of a homologous series, has been applied with success to DDT (Dichloroโdiphenylโtrichloroethane) and to 22โฒ, 44โฒ 66โฒ NNโฒ oetachloroโdiphenylโurea.

## Abstract A thermodynamic model is developed for the correlation and prediction of crystal solubility and purity when lattice substitution by isomorphic or nearโisomorphic impurities is the dominant mechanism that leads to impure crystals. The model is based on earlier observation that the purity
