✦ Synopsis

Solidification during heat transfer to a draining film has been investigated. The mathematical formulation of the problem resulted in a coupled set of three no&&r partial differential equations in temperature, velocity, and film thickness as functions of position, time, and problem parameters. The set was solved by an implicit finite difference method for two sets of boundary conditions. A correlation for the solidified film thickness as a function of position and physical properties of the film was found.
