✦ Synopsis

A new method for synthesis of (\mathrm{Mo}(\mathrm{W})-\mathrm{S}) cluster compounds by solid state reactions at low heating temperatures is introduced. The fictors which mily in/luence solied stale reattiens are discussed. Over twenty novel structurally characterized (\mathrm{Mo}(\mathrm{W})-\mathrm{S}) cluster compounds including the big mixed-metal cluster compound (\left|(n-\mathrm{Bu}){4} \mathrm{~S}{4}\right| \mathrm{Mo}{8} \mathrm{Cu}{12} \mathrm{~S}_{32} \mid) are summarized.
