-state Reactivity and Mechanisms in Oxide Systems (IV) On the Sintering Behaviour of Haematite Dedicated to Professor Hermann NEELS on the occasion of his 75th birthday The present contribution reports about the sintering behaviour of three a-Fe,O, powders which were synthesized in various ways. The different results of the sintering experiments are the consequence of granulometric properties of the samples and of their content of impurities. Possible sintering mechanisms are discussed. Die vorliegende Arbeit berichtet uber das Sinterverhalten von drei auf unterschiedlichem Wege hergestellten a-Fe,O,-Pulvern. Die voneinander abweichenden Ergebnisse der Sinterexperimente sind sowohl auf granulometrische Eigenschaften der Proben als auch auf deren Gehalt an Verunreinigungen zuriickzufuhren. Sie werden hinsichtlich moglicher Sintermechanismen diskutiert.
