✦ Synopsis

Genomatica produces pure BDO from natural sugars

Genomatica announced that the company's engineering team has achieved an important milestone toward producing commercial grade 1,4-butanediol (BDO) from renewable feedstocks using Genomatica's novel bioprocess. The company has demonstrated that it can process BDO produced from sugar to >99% purity using a proprietary and cost-effective recovery process. The achievement clears the way for development of a demonstration plant to begin operating in 2010.
