Software processes usually cover software development activities, configuration management, quality management and project management issues. Models of these processes tend to become rather complex. Mechanisms to structure these models are needed. The process landscaping approach allows us to model processes on different abstraction levels without losing the overview about the whole framework of processes and their interfaces. It also ensures that key decisions about processes are not burdened by an overwhelming amount of detail. In this article we discuss the method of process landscaping in the light of a realworld software process.
