โœฆ Synopsis

Wide surgical resection with negative margins remains the treatment of choice for soft tissue sarcomas of the head and neck and skull base. There is Level 1 evidence to support the addition of radiation to surgical resection for extremity soft tissue sarcoma, but its use in head and neck and skull base tumors is less well established, although it probably is worthwhile. The role of traditional chemotherapy, if any, probably is small, and newer agents need to be assessed under controlled conditions to identify benefit.

## Abstract ## BACKGROUND. The benefit of chemotherapy in the treatment of primary softโ€tissue sarcoma (STS) is controversial. To the authors' knowledge, few studies to date have examined the effect of chemotherapy in patients undergoing pulmonary resection for metastatic STS of the extremity. ##
