✦ Synopsis

Soft primaries can produce showers directly or through an intermediate (photon)radiation. Observations of showers with different geometrical arrangements of the material show that the soft radiation produces showers in lead directly, in this sense, that if there are intermediate photons at all these must have a very short range.

Evidence from various sources shows that the slope on the right hand side of the first shower maximum gives the decrease of the soft primary radiation.
