✦ Synopsis

The solvent was removed in vacua, the residue was treated with 15 ml _of sodium carbonate solution, and the mixture was extracted with three 1 Oml portions of chloroform. The combined extracts were dried over anhydrous sodium sulphate and evaporated in vacua to give amorphous -dihydroveatchinone, in quantitative yield.
