commencing with the TE,, mode and then generalizing with procedures for finding all remaining modes. This reviewer has used this method with considerable success as measured by student response. In common with similar texts there is also the occasional tendency to present far too much basic material as compared to its utilization. This tendency appears most clearly in the chapter on radiation, in which some very advanced ideas are presented but when the radiation from an antenna is developed, only a small fraction of the basic material is utilized. Thii leaves the student with only a superficial understanding of many of the concepts.
When compared to related books, however, Johnk has written an excellent text for a one year course in electromagnetics and he is to be praised for developing an introductory text with many valuable features.
