Abstract
The probabilities of snowfall and snow cover on Merseyside are examined by computing adjusted normal frequency distributions for 34 years of record at Bidston, Wirral, about three miles from the centre of Liverpool. A graph has been drawn from which the chances of these occurrences can be read off directly for any selected date or period. Estimates are also advanced of the probabilities of deep snow lying on the ground. These have been computed principally from records of heavy daily rainfall.
