The re-writing of the story has given it more of a flow, filled in some gaps and brings the characters to life a little more. I hope your children will love it as much as mine have. Fairy tales expand imagination, and being short, concise, adventurous and exciting they are the first 'port of call' in getting your child to be an avid reader later, they are exactly what children of today's era still need.

The best known version of this story is the one by the Brothers Grimm, but that version has many gaping holes and it does not flow very well. This could be because the brothers needed to keep the story short to fit within their collection. The re-telling of this story is based on the Brothers Grimm version and even though it has been completely re-written, it endeavors to keep true to the original as much as possible.
