## Abstract In this paper we propose a secure and efficient multicast protocol where the key management is distributed to local groups. The proposed protocol takes advantage of MBone topology to maintain scalability and efficiency at the same time. Copyright ยฉ 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
