Abshct

-The mctallii glass F%,B,,Si,,& was examined by small angle X-ray scattering (SAXS) in the asqucachal condition and after low temperature annealing. In all cases, the annahg tempera= was well below the ayMlization temperature of the material. There was no sign&ant change in SAXS intcosity aa the sample transformed from the ductile to the brittle state. Partially ay#alhd spahens prcparai by upquutcbhg were used as calibration samples to estimate an upper limit of 0.9 &A of a possible seoond phuc with the ckctron density of amorphous Fe,B in the most anbrittkd nmpka. It was amdudal that phase separation is not the cause of annealing cmbrittkmcnt in this systau. TIE wak SAXS iutcnsity suggab that the pbasc separation and chemical inhomogeneity in both the m and the anncakd atate IIR limited.
