## Abstract Sliding wear behavior of sintered alumina with grain sizes between 0.45 and 4 ΞΌm was studied in bovine serum environment with unidirectional pin‐on‐disc wear testing machine. Submicron grained alumina of average grain size of __G__ = 0.45 ΞΌm exhibits lowest wear factor among the others.

Ion beam assisted deposition (IBAD) techniques have been performed to synthesize ternary compound films composed of boron, carbon and nitrogen atoms (BC x N y ). BCN coatings were deposited on Si wafers and Si 3 N 4 disks by evaporating B 4 C target, with simultaneous N ion bombardment. The composit

In this study, sliding wear behavior of newly developed Fe-base Co-free hardfacing alloy (Fe-Cr-C-Si) was investigated and compared to that of Stellite 6 and Fe-base NOREM 02 in the temperatures ranging from 300 to 575 K under a contact stress of 103 MPa (15 ksi) in pressurized water. The weight los
