โœฆ Synopsis

By adding to the conventional form of Skyrme force a term with simultaneous momentum and density dependence it is possible to define a new force, labeled SkSP.1, that gives a good fit to the masses of 416 spherical (or near-spherical) nuclei in Hartree-Fock BCS calculations, while having the nuclear-matter value of M * . Forces of this type should be useful in describing the nuclear processes that occur in stellar collapse, which begin with isolated finite nuclei and end with nuclear matter. Furthermore, since such forces have the additional feature of allowing both masses and the position of the giant dipole resonance to be fitted simultaneously, they should have a very wide range of applicability in nuclear astrophysics.

## Generalized density dependence in Skyrme effective interactions is investigated to get forces valid beyond the mean field approximation. Preliminary results are presented for infinite symmetric and asymmetric nuclear matter up to pure neutron matter.
