Three-dimensional (3-D) computed tomographic (CT) reconstruction of the skull base region has added a different perspective to the data set usually presented in axial or coronal slices. It simultaneously demonstrates the spatial relationship of bones, tumors, vessels, and ventricles in a single illu

β¦ Synopsis
Atlas of Endocrine Pathology, by Wenig, Heffess, and Adair, comes as an addition to the series of Atlases in Diagnostic Surgical Pathology.
This 387 page volume, organized in 16 chapters and five appendices, covers the pituitary and thyroid glands, the parathyroid, pancreas, and adrenal glands. Each organ is essentially covered by two chapters: nonneoplastic and neoplastic pathology. Exception is made for the thyroid, with several additional chapters catering to: (1) hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism, (2) nonautoimmune thyroiditis, (3) autoimmune thyroiditis, and (4) goiters.
Within each chapter, the pathologic processes are presented in a constant and systematic manner, with definition, clinical features, radiologic findings, pathology (gross and microscopic), differential diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis.
The bibliography, organized to accompany each lesion discussed, is up to date.
The atlas is lavishly illustrated throughout with radiologic, microscopic, and clinical pictures. Most of the microphotographs are excellent, although I still believe that the clarity of some of the plates would have been better served by black and white prints, which allow better contrast.

## Abstract ## BACKGROUND Malignant tumors of the skull base are rare. Therefore, no single center treats enough patients to accumulate significant numbers for meaningful analysis of outcomes after craniofacial surgery (CFS). The current report was based on a large cohort that was analyzed retrosp
## Abstract ## Background The objective of this pilot study was to evaluate the utility of novel 3βdimensional (3D) endoscopy during endoscopic sinonasal and skull base surgery. ## Methods Eight surgeries were performed in 7 patients between August 2009 and March 2010 at a tertiary care academic
Background. Adenoid cystic carcinoma (ACC) of the sinonasal tract is an aggressive malignancy associated with a poor 5-year survival rate. The role of skull base surgery for the treatment of patients presenting with sinonasal ACC and its impact upon their survival has not previously been evaluated.
