✦ Synopsis

S KF has formed an agreement with ZF Sachs Italy SpA under which it will supply 140 000 oil seals and wiper seals for motorcycle forks.

Commenting on the deal, Dan Reed, President, SKF Sealing Solutions, said: 'We worked closely with ZF Sachs Italy to develop these products for its new motorcycle front suspension applications and the project has been a true success. Our engineering knowledge of sealing materials and fast response time gives us the competitive edge to support our customers' needs and demands.' Piero Vicendone, Managing Director, ZF Sachs Italia, added: 'SKF's capabilities to engineer customised high-quality products in such a fast, responsive way, is truly impressive. Our cooperation with SKF has resulted in our customer's increased satisfaction with our applications.'

The oil retention and dirt protection functions of these two-wheeler suspension seals have been improved by eliminating stick-slip effects.

The new material that has been developed is based on a special formula that gives the seal a long-lasting, self-lubricating capability while it is operating. The seals will be manufactured in Villanova, Italy.
