Several compounds

belonging to the y-lactone types 1 and 1 were isolated from two japanese Lauraceae, Lindera obtusiloba Blume (first 4 entries, Table )

and Litsea japonica (Thunb.) Jus. (first 6 entries, Table 2). We wish to report the occurrence of 18 novel representatives in the amazonian Lauracea Licaria mahuba (Samp.) Kosterm. While the 6 mahubenolides, the 6 mahubynolides and 2 mahubanolides were obtained in pure state, the existence of 4 additional mahubanolides was so far only inferred by PMR spectral examination of mixtures.
