โฆ Synopsis
Situs inversus viscerum perfectus has been described for various animals by a number of writers. It has been described in man, and extensive bibliographies have been given (Chudnoff and Shapiro, '39; Newman, '40 and Kean, '42) and the frequency of occurrence was cited. Reference was made to some of the earliest cases recorded in man, dating back to 1650 (Gould and Pyle, 1896). It was described for the salmon and figures relating to its frequency of occurrence were given (Komai, '38); for the mouse (Gruneberg, '43); for the trout (Sweet, '21); and the cat (Wragg, '38). The writer is aware of only one report of situs inversus viscerum in the rat. A brief anatomical description of a rat, received for class dissection, which was partially dissected and some of the organs disturbed before careful inspection was made, was given (Gresson and Linn, '46).
