✦ Synopsis

Lag correlations between daily atmospheric pressure at Thessaloniki (Greece) and at Bet-Dagan (Israel) were made in order to define and monitor the circulation in the eastern Mediterranean. The timing, magnitude and sign of the significant correlations in each season were defined. Pressure system types, their propagation direction, their velocity and their persistence were derived accordingly. Results are presented in a probabilistic way, enabling the assessment of different probabilities for any correlation coefficient to happen during a certain season. The results reinforce the idea of singularities of the rainfall regime elaborated in earlier studies.
