## Abstract Let __C__ be a smooth irreducible projective curve of genus __g__ > 0 and __s~C~__ (2) the minimal degree of plane models of __C__. Clearly, __s~C~__ (2) ≀ __g__ + 2. Our main result is: __s~C~__ (2) = __g__ + 2 – __t__ (for some integer __t__ β‰₯ 0) implies that __C__ is a double cover o
