โœฆ Synopsis


The fluorescence quenching of chlorophyll a (Chl a) and pheophytin a (Pheo a) by 2,4,7-trinitro-9-(fluoroenylidene)malononitrile (TNFM) has been studied in acetonitrile and dichloromethane. There is evidence of 1: 1 ground-state complex formation between the donor (Chl a or Pheo a) and the acceptor (TNFM). Fluorescence lifetime measurements in acetonitrile indicate that the quenching is dynamic type by collisional interaction of TNFM with the uncomplexed fluorophore.
