The intensity of fluorescence of poly(diphenylanthracene) (PDPA) has been found to be highly non-linear in excitation laser energy, while either diphenylanthracene or polystyrene with a low loading of covalently bound diphenylanthracene (PS-CO-DPA) is linear under the same conditions. ✦ Synopsis
The quenching of toluene fluorescence b?: cir-6-phenyl-2-helene has been studied to determine the rate of singlet "energy hopping" in dilute solutions of alkylbenzenes. The singlet lifetime data have been analyzed by the Stem-Volmer method to give the quasi-isoenergeticrate, X-q, as 1.2 X 10 lo M-1 s-l_ This result is consistent with an escimer formationdlssoclation mechanism for alkylaromatic singlet energy transfer in dilute solution.

The effective medium theory of hopping by Bleibaum, Bo ¨ttger and Bryksin is generalized to finite temperatures. Starting point is the system of rate equations for the (localized) site occupation numbers of a disordered system. An effective generalized Fokker-Planck equation is derived thereof, whic
