✦ Synopsis

OM Group seeks precious metals partner

A financial partner is being sought by OM Group for its precious metals unit with the aim of reducing debt. OM Group acquired the business as part of its $1.1 bn acquisition of dmc2 from Degussa. Ferro invested $540 M to purchase dmc2's electronic materials, pigments, ceramics and glass systems operations from OM Group. OM Group retained the automotive catalysts, technical materials, fuel cell, electroplating, jewellry, and metals trading businesses that recorded a profit of almost $80 M on sales of $3.35 bn during Jan-Sep 2002.
