β¦ Synopsis
Abstract
The paper presents the design of a dualβfrequency patch antenna with different radiation patterns. The antenna structure is composed of a squareβring patch and two shorting walls. Two resonant modes, patchβloaded monopole mode and normal patch mode, can be simultaneously excited in the antenna structure by a coupling strip inide the squareβring patch. Therefore, the antenna can radiate monopoleβlike and broadside patterns at two operating frequencies, respectively. Several prototypes of the proposed dualβfrequency patch antenna with the frequency ratios ranging from 1.18 to 1.73 are constructed, and the obtained experimental results are also shown. A simple design of a dual-frequency microstrip antenna using a single rectangular patch and a single probe feed is described. Experimental results of the antenna resonating at frequencies of about 1.42 and 1.54 GHz are presented. Measurements are uerijed by the theoretical results obtained from full
