In this paper we present the study of the acoustic phonons propagating in Er 3+ -doped KGd(WO 4 ) 2 single crystals by Brillouin spectroscopy. For the investigated crystals the velocities of the longitudinal and transverse acoustic phonons [100], [010], [001], [101] and [110] have been determined. M
