Crystals with the general formula Sr n؊1 Cu nΨ‰1 O 2n belong to the ''ladder'' compounds, a new series of high-pressure materials. They are expected to have interesting magnetic properties and are possible candidates for HT c superconductors. For the first time single crystals of (Sr, Ca) 4 Cu 6 O 10

The crystallization region of La 8 Cu 7 O 19 exists in a narrow temperature (1045+10503C) and composition range (1:4.5+ 1:5.0; La 2 O 3 :CuO molar ratio) in the La 2 O 3 +CuO system in an air ambient. In this narrow range, we have succeeded in growing large La 8 Cu 7 O 19 single crystals, for the 5r
