β¦ Synopsis
A method for the simultaneous preconcentration of chromium(III) and chromium(VI) in aqueous solution using an anion-exchange resin was developed. After chelating with EDTA, chromium(II1) was bound to Dowex l-X8 anion-exchange resin under the controlled conditions. Chromium(W) was then enriched on the same resin. Factors affecting the chelate formation and optimum conditions for trapping and desorption were investigated. The proposed method provides a relatively simple and convenient procedure for the simultaneous preconcentration of chromium species by a readily available resin with the advantages of a high recovery and low operating cost.
