✦ Synopsis
An amperometnc flow-through electrode based on ion transfer across the Interface of two lmmlsclble electrolyte solutions was developed A hydrophdlc cellulose membrane was uttbzed to stabthze the interface between the flowmg aqueous solution and the stationary orgamc phase The detector developed was applied m a flow-mjectlon system for the simultaneous determmatlon of nitrate and chlonde m river water Advantage was taken of the potentlal-dependent response of the amperometnc detector and the sufficiently separated half-wave potentials of the transfer of nitrate and chlonde across the interface. The results obtamed m the ampexometnc determmatlon of nitrate agreed well wth those from ion chromatographlc measurements Because of the comparatively poor selectwlty of the detector for chloride, the results of the amperometnc determmatlon of chlonde can be used only when the chlonde concentration of the sample IS suffkxently high
