โฆ Synopsis
The simultaneous absorption of ethylene and hydrogen chloride with chemical reaction in a medium of nitrobenzene containing dissolved catalyst (aluminium chloride) was studied. The experimental results indicated that the absorption occurs in the kinetic regime. The reaction was found to be first-order with respect to the reactants (ethylene and hydrogen chloride) as well as the catalyst. The rate constants calculated were 1.16 x lo', 2.80 x lo', 6.11 x 10' and 144 x lo6 [cm'/g mole]*/sec at 30,40, 50 and 60ยฐC respectively and the activation energy 16600 Cal/g mole.
