Sodar measurements have been made at La Spezia, Italy during land-and sea-breeze conditions. The backscatter returns are discussed qualitatively, including their relation to the vertical structure of the boundary layer as revealed by vertical soundings of wind and temperature. During inversion condi

β¦ Synopsis
This paper deals with the application of a physically complete land-sea-air boundary layer model for the simulation of flow field and pollutant transport over the Athens basin. As a first approach, a two-dimensional simulation of the tidal air movements in Athens has been performed. Simulation results are presented, discussed and compared with available measurements.

## Abstract Landβ and seaβbreeze circulations are simulated in a mathematical model, using a stably stratified atmosphere as a basic state. The results show that the landβbreeze is weaker than the seaβbreeze even although the heat contrast at the coast is identical in both cases. This is consistent
Simultaneous observations were made by an acoustic sounder and on a meteorological tower during the month of May 1978 at the Atomic Power Station Tarapur. The probing range of the acoustic sounder was 700 m. The meteorological tower could sense wind and temperature at various levels up to a height o
## Abstract This paper reports analyses of recordings made on three tower masts in order to study the dynamics of sea and land breezes as well as the development of these systems in an archipelago along the west coast of Sweden. Intensive studies have focused on the duration and strength of sea and
## Abstract This study is restricted to days with even pressure distribution, and without strong winds that would interfere with the sea breeze. The greatest frequency of such a sea breeze occurs in May, June and October, which are the months of low frequency of the Etesians. The diurnal march of
