โฆ Synopsis
A model has been developed to simulate deposit growth under slagging conditions. The model was coupled with a comprehensive combustion code to predict the ยฏow ยฎeld, the temperature ยฎeld and the deposit growth behavior. The predictions indicate that the numerical model can be used to optimize the design and operation of pulverized coal-ยฎred boilers.

It is suggested that sodium/ash reactions within burning pulverized-fuel (p.f.) particles may result in a considerable reduction in the release of sodium to the furnace atmosphere and that the fine supercooled molten ash particles, enriched with alkali, may contribute to the initiation of diffusion-
