It is shown how the theory of ray representations of a group may be recast in terms of ordinary representations of a new entity, a ray group. When these ray groups are simply subducible. a recently developed method of symmetry analysis based directly on the character tables may be applied. This leads to a complete reduction of all space groups and double groups.
