The expression for the current of differential pulse polarography (DPP), in the case of reversible systems, has been established using the diffusion layer model without resolving the diffusion equations. Criteria for the reversibility of the electrochemical reaction, inherent to DPP, are also discussed.

A new differential pulse polarographic method is proposed for the determination of nicardipine, based on the electroactivity of the nitroaromatic group of the molecule. The proposed method is applied in the determination of the drug in pharmaceutical formulations and in photodegradation studies.
