โœฆ Synopsis

A rapid, accurate, and precise gas chromatographic method is described for the determination of lysine in acid hydrolyzates of wheat and rice seed. Chemical procedures are minimum but critical, and derivatization is simple. Precautions for high precision and accuracy are discussed in detail. The method appears applicable to many types of seeds with suitable adaptations to specific needs.

With dimethyldisulfide the methylthio-derivatives of unsaturated fatty acid methyleaters are readily formed within 30 rnin at 70ยฐC. Whereas the analysis of oleic and petroselinic acid methyl esters by gas liquid chromatography is very time consuming (separation time: 1 hour), their corresponding me
