Formulae were derived in a previous paper [l] for the fluorescent X-ray intensity emitted by a three component mixture.
One of the formulae, that of the third-order process emitted by the element of lowest atomic number, as given in the original paper [l] is long and cumbersome.
In this note the derivation of that formula is refined and the result presented in a significantly simpler form.

The e β ects of di β erent spectrometer geometries, x-ray tube spectral distributions and mass absorption coefficients (MACs) on relative intensities calculated from the theory have been investigated. In the comparison of calculated relative intensities with experimental data for eight analyte compone
