✦ Synopsis

We have developed a new simple master equation for the description of charge transfer in atom±surface scattering. The equation includes some eects of strong intra-atomic correlation such as the Coulomb blockade. Comparisons with an accurate numerical solution obtained using a non-equilibrium Green's function technique show that the proposed simple master equations (SMEs) represent a convenient, computationally fast and semi-accurate means of describing charge transfer in atom±surface scattering.
