β¦ Synopsis
This study deals with the behaviour of lead during rolling and especially of its layer in contact with the rolls. The investigation reported includes an examination of the total spread, of the distribution of spread over the rolled width (the shape of the distribution, the mean value, the scatter) and of the barrelling of the free edges of the rolled billet.
Flats {billets) with width-to-height (w/h) ratios of 1, 2 and 3 made of lead, armco iron, 304 and 1009 steels rolled to drafts of eh=0.2, 0.3 and 0.5 were used for the investigation.
