A silver catalyzed cyclixation of 4-allenylazetidinones to Akarbapenems and of 4-(2-propynyl)axetidinones to Akubapenems is described. The silver mediated cyclixation is stereospecific: starting with stereodefined 4-allenylaz&idinones, specific stereoisomers of C-3 substituted Al-carbapenems can be prepamd.
