Abstract
The paper describes experimental work carried out to investigate the problem of the manufacture of phosphors suitable for use in screens for cheap television cathodeβray tubes. Experience had been gained in the manufacture of screens for radioβlocation tubes, in which, Willemite was used as the phosphor. Using this phosphor, very good screens had been produced cheaply and in quantity but they were green. The object of the experiment to be described was to produce a phosphor which would give a white screen suitable for television.
