«Sidi» es un relato de ficción donde, con la libertad del novelista, combino historia, leyenda e imaginación. He simplificado en lo posible la grafía de las expresiones en lengua árabe. Episodios reales como el destierro del Cid y batallas como las de Almenar y Pinar de Tébar se alteran o funden entre sí según las necesidades de la narración. Eso ocurre también con los personajes históricos y los inventados. Hay muchos Ruy Díaz en la tradición española, y éste es el mío.
