✦ Synopsis
The problem of maintaining within predetermined values the level of liquid nitrogen in cold traps is sometimes difficult to solve, especially for vacuum systems which have to work unattended for long periods of time. Having tried several commercial devices, none was found to be entirely satisfactory. We therefore developed our own equipment which proved to be equally well suited for traps of very different shapes and materials (glass or stainless steel). Our device consists of two parts which are independent and need not necessarily be used together." 1. an electronic level detector and controller, using commercial diodes as sensors; 2. a pressurizing device to be fitted on the liquid coolant reservoir.
